About.

The Friends' purpose was and remains the "enrichment" of educational programs of the public elementary and secondary schools of our community. Since its founding, about $500,000 in contributions received by the Friends have been made available to the schools for diverse projects.

Established in 1961

by a group of citizens, including former Dartmouth College President John Kemeny. The Friends was the first organization of its kind in the United States to raise charitable funds for public schools. In a speech before the U.S. House of Representatives on July 24, 1961, Rep. Thomas Curtis, a Republican from Missouri stated, "Mr. Speaker, many people think of giving money to private institutions of learning, but whoever thought of giving money to a public school?"

Our Goal

The Friends supports our four-school community by funding mini-grants proposed by teachers and staff in both the Fall and Spring. Your charitable donation to the Friends allows our community to continue its commitment to high quality and innovative education for all of our children.
